The budget smartphone Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) is now available in the Philippines with an official price of ₱7,490.00.

It’s advertised with a tagline “See Life in Full Color” since it uses Super AMOLED technology and scratch resistant Gorilla Glass 4 for its screen. However, it’s just a 5-inch panel with regular aspect ratio.

The Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro (2018) runs on a 1.4GHz quad core Snapdragon 425 processor with 1.5GB of RAM, 4G LTE connectivity and Android 7.1 Nougat as the operating system.
It’s equipped with an 8 Megapixel camera at the back and a 5 Megapixel selfie camera on the front. Both are paired with a dedicated LED flash to aid in low light photography.
A 2600mAh battery powers the device.

Doogee Mix 2 Smartphone Review

Let’s take it out of the box and check its design, build quality, accessories and freebies. I’ll also take a couple of pictures using its dual front and dual rear cameras.

What’s in the Doogee Mix 2 box?

The Doogee Mix 2 comes in a black box with the same design as that of its previous version, the Doogee Mix. Its color and memory are indicated – mine is the ocean blue color with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

Opening the box immediately reveals the phone itself. It has clear protective stickers highlighting its features and pre-installed screen protectors in both front and back.

Underneath the device is an inner box that contains a phone case, warranty card, quick start guide and another free screen protector. This box hides two compartments where the charger, SIM ejector tool and USB Type-C cable are located. There are also two USB Type-C adaptors– one for the 3.5mm audio jack and another for microUSB 2.0. That’s all there is inside the box. No ring stand in a curious packaging.

Doogee Mix 2 First Impressions

Upon picking up the Doogee Mix 2, I immediately felt its weight. It’s one of the heaviest smartphones I’ve held. This does make it feel solid and reassuring in terms of durability.

The bezels around its 5.99-inch display isn’t totally gone but it’s certainly slim at under 3mm on the sides. I’m more impressed by the chamfered metal sides that look great with the blue hue.

Its shiny back can function as a handy mirror but the pronounced camera bump punctuate the field of view. It’s also a fingerprint and smudge magnet.

The device runs on Android Nougat with Doogee OS on top. Don’t worry, it’s more polished now and gone are the cartoonish features. The icons could look better though – just install another launcher if it’s not your taste.

Swiping through the screen and checking some of the pre-installed apps (just a few of them) is smooth. I’m excited to test the benchmark and gaming performance of this device.
One issue I stumbled upon is the difficulty in setting up Face Recognition. Nevertheless, the fingerprint sensor is quick and reliable.

Curiously, the selfie looks better than the picture from the rear cameras.

Welcome to the ASUS Zenfone Max Plus Hands-on Review, my first impressions and what is the quality of this smartphone, is it really worth to buy it? Let's discuss it's specs and features.

ASUS is now adapting to the latest trends in smartphone display, the Zenfone Max Plus features 5.7-inch full-view display with ultrawide 18:9 aspect ratio and ultrathin bezels. We got a chance to get our hands on this latest Zenfone and here’s our unboxing and first impressions.

It comes in ASUS traditional box, with the big label Zenfone Max Plus on top of the box and basic specs information at the back.

Inside the box includes the simple protective case, Zenfone max Plus, wall charger, earphones, USB cable, user guide and OTG cable.

Design

The Zenfone Max Plus features a 5.7-inch full-view Full HD+ display with ultrawide 18:9 aspect ratio, ultrathin bezels, and 2.5D-curved glass but no mention if it is protected by Gorilla Glass.

It has a premium metal finish that is comfortable to hold, its available in Deepsea Black, Sunlight Gold, and Azure Silver colors.

Going to the side there is the power button and volume controls the SIM slot is on the other side, it supports 2x SIM nano SIM and 1 microSD card.

At the back is the dual rear-camera sensor with 16-megapixel PixelMaster main camera with a wide, f/2.0 aperture lens and a phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) system. While the secondary 120° wide-angle camera has a 200%-wider field of view placed at the leftmost part together with the LED flash and the upper center is the fingerprint scanner with the company name at the bottom.

The USB port is located at the bottom together with the speaker and microphone while at the top is the 3.5mm audio jack.

First Impressions

The Zenfone Max Plus comes in simple and a bit boring design and there’s nothing special about it. The 5.7-inch with 18:9 display aspect ratio looks nice with the Full HD+ resolution it looks really clear and crisp. Its running on latest ZenUI 4.0 and has more clean user interface compared to the previous version and its more responsive. It still comes with comes with a lot of pre-installed apps that are useful.

One of the main features of the Zenfone Max plus is the battery life and its dubbed as “The Battery King” smartphone. It packs 4,130mAh non-removable battery, based on our hands-on we’re able to get around 8 hours of use in one full charge which is not bad but for a device with the Full HD+ resolution display but we were expecting a longer battery life.

It has a dual rear camera with 16-megapixel PixelMaster + 8MP wide-angle camera lens. The PixelMaster camera comes with features such as Super Resolution, GIF Animation, Panorama and Selfie Panorama modes.

Starting price @ Php11,995 the Zenfone Max Plus is a good pick for an Android smartphone with good battery life, nice display, fingerprint scanner, reverse-charging capability, fast charging and dual rear cameras. Now that’s a lot of features for a smartphone at this price range.

Google is rolling out its latest real-time translation feature Interpreter mode starting today.

Google’s new Interpreter Mode is designed for travelers and can translate real-time conversations via the Google Assistant app. To start, say “Hey Google, be my German translator” or Hey Google, help me speak Spanish,” and Google will translate spoken conversation into text and speech. Google also Smart Replies that show you suggestions on how to respond without speaking. Google’s Interpreter mode can translate 44 languages and is already part of Google Assistant, so you don’t need to download a separate app.
