OPPO Enco Q1 (Banshee Edition) Hands-on

A few months ago, OPPO introduced the Reno Ace Gundam 40th Anniversary Edition. It’s the perfect phone for those who are fans of the Gundam franchise. Why stop there, though? How about audio? The good news is they also released the OPPO Enco Q1 (Banshee Edition) Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. We finally got our hands on one, so check our impressions below.

The OPPO Enco Q1 (Banshee Edition), as the name suggests, is based on the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee, so it’s black with gold accents. It comes in a nice package with the Banshee’s face on the front. Inside is the Enco Q1, extra ear tips, USB-C charging cable, and manual.

The OPPO Enco Q1 (Banshee Edition) is pretty much identical to the ordinary Enco Q1 except for the colors and markings on the neckband on the earbuds themselves.

It features a matte finish with a smooth coating which is effective in repelling fingerprints and feels soft on the skin. For controls, the multi-function power button, LED notification, volume buttons, and ANC button are all placed on the left side of the neckband. Found beneath it is the USB-C port for charging.

Pairing is easy if you own an OPPO phone, thanks to the quick-pairing feature. Just switch the Banshee on, and the OPPO smartphone will automatically detect it. If you’re not using an OPPO phone, don’t worry as you can still use this headphone.

When it comes to features, it’s the same as the standard Enco Q1. It uses a Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling that combines both feed-forward and feedback microphones to maximize noise reduction. In our experience, it’s effective and drastically improves the music listening experience. Audio quality is great and features three types of audio effects: Music, Movies, and Gaming.

For connectivity, it uses Bluetooth 5.0 with a wireless range of 10 meters. It also has IPX4 water resistance so it can withstand sweat or light rain. It also boasts a long battery life with 15 hours of playtime in ANC mode. Charging, on the other hand, takes 2 hours.

The OPPO Enco Q1 (Banshee Edition) is only available in China for CNY 599. Unfortunately, OPPO won’t offer it in the Philippines, just like the Reno Ace Gundam due to license limitations. But if you happen to be in the country and looking for wireless headphones, especially if you own the Reno Ace Gundam, I highly recommend this.

While Microsoft didn’t explicitly mention that the Windows logo was tweaked as well, one can see the OS logo in the image included in the announcement.

Through extensive testing and customer feedback, Microsoft’s design team arrived at the conclusion of what consumers wanted to see in their icons. As seen in the images, Microsoft’s design team “incorporated rich gradients, broadened our spectrum of colors, and implemented a dynamic motion with ribbon-like qualities.

Microsoft stated that the redesign was done in order to have a fluent design system across the board. Jon Friedman stated that they faced two major challenges, namely needing to innovate and change while maintaining familiarity. He added:

Google has rolled out RCS messaging, the company’s successor to SMS, to all Android users in the US. The rollout was confirmed by Sanaz Ahari, Google’s senior director of product management.

RCS (Rich Communication Services) is now set to be Google’s default texting platform, integrated within the Google Messages app. Within the Messages app, RCS is referred to as “Chat” instead. Comparable to Apple’s iMessage app, Google’s RCS messaging is capable of sending high-res photos, large files, enable group chats, make video calls, supports read receipts, and has a typing indicator.
To use RCS, a user first needs to have Google Messages as their default texting app. Afterward, a user needs to update Messages and their Carrier Services, and then the user can either go the settings and switch Chat on or wait for the prompt within the app.
Currently,  RCS is only available in the US. At the moment, it is unknown if Google will roll out RCS to other territories

How to reload e-wallets using BPI Mobile App/Online

$

E-wallets, also known as digital wallets, are becoming more and more popular these days. These are online services that allow for electronic transactions or payments instead of cash. However, one of the challenges of using an e-wallet is funding it.

The good news is banks like BPI allow you to load your e-wallet straight from your browser or mobile app. So easy and convenient, right? Fortunately, banks and fintechs can actually work together to help us go about our financial obligations with no hassle.
Just remember to double-check if the partners are trusted and that you’re on a secure website before making any transaction. Make sure to check for the padlock symbol and URL in your browser.

For BPI, it has actually tapped the following partners for their e-wallets: Autosweep RFID, Easytrip, GCash, PayMaya, and Smart Padala. The partners list is part of the bank’s digital ecosystem that enables you to bank faster, safer, and more conveniently.
So, here’s how you load your e-wallet through BPI:
Step 1: Log in to BPI Online or to the new BPI Mobile app and select “Payments/Load” > “Load e-wallet” tab.

Step 2: Choose the account where you want to get your funds from, choose the e-wallet account you want to load, then enter the load amount.

Step 3: Confirm the details and enter the One-Time PIN (OTP) then select “Submit”. Always remember not to share your OTP with anyone.

Once the OTP is accepted, just wait for the load confirmation and you’re good to go. Each transaction has an e-mail confirmation.
This is a very convenient feature especially if you use the e-wallets mentioned above. It’s online, so you can make the transaction almost anywhere and anytime. I once was able to reload my Easytrip account in minutes before I drove to work. We can expect BPI to build partnerships with more e-wallets to make it easier for all of us.
So, if you haven’t tried this feature, go ahead and follow the steps above.

Benchmarks Quickly Explained: AnTuTu Benchmark

$

If you frequent our website for smartphone reviews, then you’re no stranger to seeing AnTuTu benchmark scores during our performance test. You might know that a higher score is better, but what exactly do those scores mean? Today, we’ll be discussing the synthetic benchmark AnTuTu, and what the score means.
What is AnTuTu?
AnTuTu is an app that runs your phone through various benchmark tests to see how well it performs. It can run on both Android and iOS, across different brands of devices and different chipset manufacturers. It’s a great tool to compare the relative performance of two phones because it covers four main categories that dictate a phone’s overall performance: CPU, GPU, Memory, and User Experience.
A higher CPU score is good for almost every case since all your applications use some CPU power to function. The GPU score determines how well your phone handles games and other GPU accelerated processes. Having a higher memory score determines how fast and snappy your phone feels. While opening applications do use some CPU horsepower, the ROM sequential and random reads affect how fast your phone can open applications and files. User Experience benchmarks test how well the phone performs doing day-to-day tasks. The end score is the aggregate of the results of the four categories.
When comparing AnTuTu results, it’s important to take note of the AnTuTu version that the reviewer used since the scoring metrics may differ from version to version.
How are AnTuTu scores determined?
In the latest, 8th version of AnTuTu, the four categories are broken into different tests to show how well these components perform. The CPU score is gauged by how well it handles CPU Mathematical Operations, CPU Common Algorithms, and how the CPU handles multi-threaded workloads. The GPU score is tested by rendering three scenes which use different APIs: Terracotta (Vulkan), Coastline (Vulkan), and Refinery (OpenGL ES3.1+AEP).
The memory score is obtained by testing how well both the RAM and ROM performs in accessing the RAM and ROM APP IO, sequential read, sequential write, and random access. Lastly, the User Experience (UX) category is taken from testing for Data Security, Data Processing, Image processing, and the User Experience.
We hope this article helped demystify the AnTuTu benchmark and shine some light in what these results mean. If there are other benchmarking tools you want to understand, let us know in the comments below!

267 million Facebook user IDs, phone numbers exposed online according to report

More than 267 million Facebook user IDs, phone numbers, and names were exposed online and available for access without any security, according to a report by Comparitech.
Security researcher Bob Diachenko discovered the unsecured database. The database is believed to be a “result of an illegal scraping operation or Facebook API abuse by criminals in Vietnam, according to the evidence.” Upon discovery, Diachenko then alerted the internet service provider managing the database to remove the public access, however, the data had already been posted to a hacker forum in the form of a download.
According to Comparitech, the database included a user’s Facebook ID, their phone number, full name, and a timestamp. The majority of the users affected were from the United States. It’s unsure yet how the criminals obtained the data, but Comparitech says that ” One possibility is that the data was stolen from Facebook’s developer API before the company restricted access to phone numbers in 2018.” Another possibility could be that “the data was stolen without using the Facebook API at all, and instead scraped from publicly visible profile pages.” Comparitech mentioned that having a user’s Facebook profile visibility set to public makes it easier for criminals to scrape their data.
Comparitech recommends that Facebook users adjust their profile Visibility settings to “Friends” or “Only Me” and also set “Do you want search engines outside of Facebook to link to your profile” setting to “No”.

Coins and hearts can be earned with each habitat and penguin created, and those coins and hearts can be used to build and create more environments. As it is an idle game, users can just exit or leave it running in the background, and they’ll be prompted with the number of coins and hearts earned once they log back in.

From the creators of Neko Atsume comes Tabikaeru, or Journey Frog in English. In Tabikaeru, you get to help a frog with his journeys by preparing his backpack and gathering clovers outside the frog’s house. The frog’s travels can take hours or even a couple of days. While the frog is away, he’ll be sending players pictures from his travels, or give them souvenirs when he comes back. While the game is available for download in a lot of territories, the game is only playable in Japanese. Thankfully, there are a lot of guides floating around the internet.
